Hi, this is Gigi introducing myself

I am Gigi, an old friend of the Clean Green Nappy Machine folk. I bought my cloth nappies from them and now help run the business. I have always been a bit of an eco-worrier, prone to climate-change-anxiety-induced apocalyptic nightmares and bouts of deep gloom about gorillas, turtles, Native Americans, you name it. This has got worse since I had Alice, now 5 months old and asleep on the couch, bless her cotton socks. I find the best way to keep the anxiety under control is to stop thinking about the overwhelming global situation, and focus on the positive things I do at home, like recycling, buying British produce and of course, using real nappies.

Switching to real nappies reduced our household rubbish by at least one third - an immediate, visible and hugely gratifying benefit. I used to feel so guilty putting out a bin bag full of disposables every week. I hated the thought that Alice’s legacy to the world would include an enormous truckload of disposables that could take nearly 500 years to decompose. The UK dumps more rubbish in landfills than any other EU country, and our landfills could be full in just 10 years.
